Cora Waterhouse earned her commercial art degree from Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked as a set and sign painter and for Sea World of Ohio where she met her husband, Rick. After the birth of their first child, they moved to San Antonio, Texas. Cora began working from home as a free lance illustrator, starting her own custom cards and clothing businesses. When the family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1985, they had a second child. With both kids in tow, Cora began to also teach children art at camps each summer.
In 1992 the Waterhouses moved to Los Angeles where Cora learned to paint in oil. In no time, she was accepting commissions for her portrait work. She continued her work with children as an Art Docent for the Glendale School District.
Since moving to LaGrange in 1996, Cora painted for several years at an interior design firm creating faux finishes, trompe l?oeil. and specialty projects. She has completed several murals in Georgia, Florida and Pennsylvania. She accepts portrait commissions in oil and soft pastel. She has been teaching after school art and summer camps at the LaGrange Art Museum for 12 years, where she currently offers adult classes in drawing. She participates annually with Callaway Gardens SPARK! Special Program of Art for Kids as an artist presenter and continues to consult, volunteer and contribute to many community committees and charities around town.
