Artist, Jean Park, illustrates her love of nature through her water color paintings of flowers. Her paintings demonstrate brilliant vivid color painted from her second love, photography. The detail exhibited in each painting gives the distinct impression of reality. The artist’s specialty is flowers but she enjoys painting custom pet portraits.
Jean has been involved in some form of art all of her life. After receiving her Batchelor of Science degree in Education from Columbus State University in 1973 and teaching for twelve years, she became more focused on art full time. She worked with ceramics, creating beautiful lamps, tableware, tiles and numerous other items. Her love of painting expanded into painting baskets, fabrics, canvas and now is exclusively focused on watercolor since 1997. One great artist that inspired her into flowers and still inspires her is Georgia O’Keefe. “It is the detail in the heart of the flower that I am drawn to” Jean says “And, I can’t grow ‘em so I paint ‘em!”
Jean is a founding member of the Joseph House Gallery in Columbus, member of the Columbus Art Guild, Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange, LaGrange Art Museum and a member of The Southern Rivers Artist Guild of Harris County. She has and continues to participate in all regional shows. She is the recipient of numerous awards for exhibits through her memberships and participation in art shows.
