In his books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, Lewis Carroll wrote: “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” In Lori's own way, she uses those concepts to guide her photography to magically change the reality of a photograph into a different, often unusual image that stimulates the viewers imagination. This transformation from reality to fantasy is what makes her photographs unique.

Lori Harrell earned her Digital Photography certificate from Columbus State University in 2010 and it immediately caught the attention of judges and exhibit directors. Most recently, she had two photographs accepted to Simple Pleasures: The Nature Show 2016 Juried Photography exhibit in Newnan, GA. She has had a photograph accepted to Slow Exposures 2015, a national juried exhibition that celebrates the rural South. She has had work selected for the Arts Clayton's 2015 and 2016 Juried Photography exhibit, and the 2015 and 2016 Simple Pleasures Juried Photography exhibit in Newnan, GA (her image won People's Choice Award for 2015 exhibit and 3rd place for the 2016 exhibit). The Desire: Ten Photographers is an exhibit of photographs taken by ten selected photographers of the model Desire, and Lori was one of the elite selected. Her photography has been exhibited in the annual Columbus Photographers held at the Rankin Arts Photography Center exhibit four times and three times in the annual Visual Artist Alliance of LaGrange exhibit at the LaGrange Art Museum in LaGrange, GA (her image for the 2016 VAAL exhibit won 3rd place). Her work has been published in the magazine Entertainment Empires (twice) and can be found in the 2015 Slow Exposures coffee table book depicting the works selected for that exhibit. Playgrounds Magazine recognized Lori's photography including it in their publication. She is an active member of Photopia of Columbus, GA and the Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange serving as VAAL co-chair for the 2017 term.
