I am a textile designer with an interesting background. I have both a degree in Chemistry and in Art & Design with a concentration in Painting from LaGrange College. I feel as comfortable working in the lab as I do in the studio.
I have been painting since I was two years old and was influenced by my grandfather’s love of watercolors. My heritage and the appreciation for the tropical flora where I grew up, are the main source of my subject matter. I love to paint exotic flowers, leaves, fish and fruits that I see in my native country of Panama. It is impossible to be in such a rich environment and not be inspired by it.
Bold, uninhibited use of color, aggressive and fast strokes and a love for nature give life to my work. Regardless of the many changes my art has experienced, these three elements remain constant. I mostly paint watercolors and acrylics but have recently discovered a passion for printmaking and mixed media.
