Rocio Lancaster was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She received her early education in South America; then she studied architecture briefly at Georgia Tech as one of the Institute's first female students. Rocio was introduced to the ceramic arts nearly thirty years ago through the Callaway Foundation in LaGrange, Georgia. While she acquired her early pottery skills through guidance of Jeanine Bradfield, most of her unique style has developed through self-exploration and years of experience.

The three most important themes in Rocio's work are her love of children, her love of vibrant color, and her respect for the simple beauty of nature. These themes arise repeatedly in different ways throughout her ceramics creations. Artistically she has been influenced by the works of Picasso and especially Matisse. All these variables combine to create a truly singular style.

The name of Rocio's studio, Morning Dew, is a literal translation of her name in Spanish. Rocio maintains her workshop in the home she shares with her Husband John in LaGrange, Georgia.
